Business Intelligence On Rails

The Home Of Agile Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing Solutions

Welcome

If your search has brought you to this website you are probably looking for one of two things:

  1. 1.Information on using a ‘Rails’ approach to developing and deploying Business Intelligence solutions - not necessarily using the Ruby language or Ruby on Rails framework. We tag this BI-on-Rails

  2. 2.Tools and utilities to help develop Ruby On Rails Business Intelligence applications. This information is tagged RoR BI

The good news is we have information on both and we are looking for more so read our blog, discuss the issues on our forum (when launched) and contribute to our wiki (when launched)

Oh, and if you are wondering what we mean by ‘on rails’ it is based on two principles takes from the ‘Ruby on Rails’ framework and developed for use with Business Intelligence:

  1. *‘DRY’ (don’t repeat yourself)
Every piece of knowledge in the system should be expressed in just one place - usually decided on by the conventions within the architecture

  1. *Using convention over configuration
This means that the architecture is defined with sensible defaults for just about every aspect and these can be knitted together to produce an effective solution

By using these two principles it is possible to create an agile, low-cost, reusable framework for developing and deploying business information systems.
